Proposals Called for REDD Investment Framework Action Plan

Request for Public Comments

Dear REDD+ Stakeholders,

The Sri Lanka UN-REDD Programme has supported the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment to develop the National REDD+ Investment Framework & Action Plan (NRIFAP) to be implemented during a five-year period and requests public comments in order to proceed with its finalization.

The NRIFAP is a forestry sector national programme aiming to reduce deforestation and forest degradation and increase forest cover in Sri Lanka with the support of state and non-state partners. The NRIFAP was developed through a highly consultative process with multi-stakeholder forums and has been guided by several technical/institutional studies undertaken during the last three and a half years.

The printed copy of the NRIFAP in all three languages together with a book for comments are available at the following locations for inspection by the public between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm for a period of 30  days starting from 2 March 2017.


The advertisement requesting for the public comments for the NRIFAP was published in all three languages in the Dinamina, the Ceylon Daily News and the Thinakaran  papers on the 2nd March 2017. Copies of the advertisements are also attached for your kind information.

7.    All Provincial Offices of the Central Environmental Authority (09)

8.    All District Secretariats (25)

9.    All government universities (in the respective VC’s office)

Any member of the public may submit their comments in writing to the Desk Officer of the Sri Lanka UN-REDD Programme in the below address within the indicated time frame. In addition, they may also write their comments in the special book kept at each locations mentioned above.
